The Academics
The Accentism Project is led by two leading sociolinguists dedicated to researching linguistic discrimination and championing accent equality.
Professor Rob Drummond
Manchester Metropolitan University
Rob is a Professor of Sociolinguistics whose research focuses on language and identity, specifically how the way we speak reflects who we are. He has published extensively on accent variation and is a regular media commentator on linguistic issues. He is the author of You’re All Talk.
Dr Amanda Cole
University of Cambridge
Amanda is an Assistant Professor in Sociolinguistics with a focus on language attitudes, accent bias, and dialect variation in the UK. Her research investigates the social consequences of how people speak and the mechanisms of linguistic prejudice. She works extensively to bridge the gap between academic findings and public awareness.
